Skiing

Thanks to its ideal location right by the slopes and valley station, the Grünerhof puts you just steps away from the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area. Modern lifts, 112 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes, spectacular panoramic views and cosy mountain huts create the perfect setting for unforgettable days on the slopes.
Gurgl has long been a favourite among the world’s top ski racers, too. The AUDI FIS Ski World Cup returns to Gurgl in the 2026/27 winter season, with the women’s slalom on 21 November 2026 followed by the men’s slalom on 22 November 2026.

Ski touring in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Fresh snow crunches beneath your skis as the impressive peaks of the Ötztal Alps rise on the horizon. Whether you’re planning your first ski tour or already have plenty of experience in ski mountaineering, the mountains around Obergurgl offer routes for a wide range of abilities.
From enjoyable tours for a relaxed day in the mountains to challenging multi-day adventures, there is plenty to discover. Whatever route you choose, careful preparation and the right equipment are essential in the alpine environment.

Cross-country Skiing
Free cross-country skiing fun
Experience the winter mountains of the Ötztal on two narrow skis. The cross-country trails around Obergurgl-Hochgurgl offer perfect conditions for enjoying the snowy landscape at your own pace.
With more than 12 kilometres of beautifully groomed trails, you can glide peacefully through the winter scenery or pick up the pace on the 2.5-kilometre high-altitude trail.
The entire trail network is free to use and freshly groomed every day – everything you need for a memorable day of cross-country skiing surrounded by the Tyrolean mountains.
Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing
Step by step through the winter wonderland
Strap on your snowshoes or lace up your winter boots and head into a world of deep snow, sparkling fields and peaceful mountain huts. Away from the hustle and bustle, the winter landscape around Obergurgl can be experienced at its most tranquil.
If you’d like to discover some of the most beautiful trails while learning more about the surrounding nature and mountains, join a guided snowshoe hike.
Tobogganing in Obergurgl
Six perfectly groomed toboggan runs, covering around 12 kilometres in total, promise plenty of fun and excitement for the whole family. Once the floodlights come on in the evening, tobogganing takes on an entirely different atmosphere.
For something a little more leisurely, enjoy a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered winter landscape. And after a day outdoors, there’s nothing better than stopping at a cosy mountain hut for some delicious local specialities before heading back to the warmth of the Grünerhof.
