We are a small team of four, brought together by a genuine passion for hospitality and a love of what we do. Welcoming our guests, sharing our home and making their stay a special one is what drives us every day.
For us, true Tyrolean hospitality is all about warmth, attentiveness and a personal touch. We want you to feel comfortable from the moment you arrive – and, ideally, to feel a little more at home with every day you spend at the Grünerhof.
Because there is no greater compliment for us than when our guests leave feeling that they have not simply stayed with us, but truly felt at home.
From the "Hof zu Gerune" to the "Grünerhof"
Our story
The story of the Grünerhof is deeply rooted in the history of this place. More than 800 years ago, the so-called Hof zu Gerune stood here, just around 100 metres from where the Grünerhof is located today. In the 16th century, the Haus Grüner at our present location was first mentioned in historical records as the family’s ancestral home.
Many years later, in 1991, Markus and Barbara Grüner laid the foundations for what would eventually become the Grünerhof. They built the property as an apartment house, creating a place where guests could experience the Tyrolean mountains while feeling as welcome as they would in the home of good friends.
Thirty years later, a new chapter began. Their son Maximilian brought fresh ideas and a new vision to the family business, transforming the former apartment house into the Grünerhof as it is today – a hotel with a restaurant. His partner Theresa has been by his side throughout this journey.
When designing and building the new Grünerhof, it was important to Maximilian to preserve a strong connection to nature and to his Tyrolean roots. Natural materials such as wood, loden and lime plaster were therefore deliberately chosen throughout the house. They bring warmth, character and an authentic sense of place to the Grünerhof.
Today, the four of them – Markus, Barbara, Maximilian and Theresa – form the heart of the Grünerhof and welcome guests together as hosts.

Over the centuries, the former Hof zu Gerune has evolved into the Grünerhof we know today. A very special place, shaped by its history and its surroundings.
While much has changed over the years, some things have remained at the heart of who we are: our deep connection to our home, the strong bond within our family and our genuine joy in welcoming guests.
Today, we combine these values with a modern understanding of hospitality. Tradition and contemporary comfort go hand in hand at the Grünerhof.
